Limericks (my passive, almost-leisure writing)

What are limericks? Well, here's old Mr Webster to help you out:

lim·er·ick

noun
a kind of humorous verse of five lines, in which the first, second, and fifth lines rhyme with each other, and the third and fourth lines, which are shorter, form a rhymed couplet.

Basically, its a catchy little poem, a silly jingle that can get stuck in your head very fast. They are extremely fun to write and even more fun to read :)

Here's one I made up:

I was driving down a street one day,
It was morning of the fifth of May,
On the way to my test,
I barely had rest,
Even though I passed right away.

If you have one, just post it as a comment, I'd love to hear it. Hint: Use the online rhyming dictionary
for help! Good luck writing

The Rime of Andromeda

Andromeda
Ripples of her hair like the Sea,
A stormy ocean kindled in her eyes,
Proud and strong and tall she stands,
But with a will of iron,
Then they crack her, they break her,
And leave her Sea to devour her,
Her lovely merciless Sea,
Then embodied as she sees it by a terrible beast,
Its jaws so strong and rows of teeth so sharp they sever silence itself with their presence,
Then was the half-broken Andromeda saved,
From where she had lain atop a rocky cleft,
By a swift messenger she learns to be called Perseus,
Nay but there passed several years where upon she lay once more,
This time for good, fading as her soul was taken and she witnessed life's last glimpses,
And as she rose above to the heavens and never came down,
Her eyes looked upon the world,
Almost like tiny stars twinkling in the evening sky.

The Ultimate Disease That Eventually Besets All Writers: The Writer's Block

Everyone gets it at some given point in time, it's every writer's worst enemy, but it happens. Writer's block. Luckily I do not have it right now, but I had a very bad case of it last fall that lasted to almost mid-spring..
The Symptoms: It's when you want to write but your mind feels all blank and idea-less, blah and without a single bit of inspiration plus you feel lethargic and un-motivated. Pretty bad huh? Well that's worst case scenario. Mild symptoms of writer's block include false motivation but and inability to actually pin down any idea (it's pretty frustrating).
The Remedy: Try not to focus on writing for a while. Do something else. Do 50 jumping jacks. Spin around till you get dizzy. Read a good book. Eat chocolate. (Well, you get the idea.) Then when you've finally forgotten anything and everything that you ever had to do with writing, go back to it all of a sudden. It's amazing. Words will jump out at you, ideas will be beckoning you. Your only limit is how fast you can write. Good luck!

Note: no immunization yet found for this disease, it's pretty common yet no one's researching to find a cure. Cancer's old. What about this?

The End of the World

Deciding to die? It's too late now..
Cat is in 1st grade. Taking a test. But something is special about today. Papa left her one scrap of paper when went away. 4/6/12, 3:07pm. That's all it said. But Papa was genius. A scientist. He knew things normal people didn't. And that's why today was important. Cat knew it. (Well, Cat knows lots of stuff, she can get psychic when she's angry at someone.)
That's all the rage for next year. (if there IS a "next year"......)
